STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R .. My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party , a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be wi

But on the verge of another attempted comeback, he is suddenly gone, this time for good.   Michael Jackson, whose quintessentially American tale of celebrity and excess took him from musical boy wonder to global pop superstar to sad figure haunted by lawsuits, paparazzi and failed plastic surgery, was pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon at UCLA Medical Center after arriving in a coma, a city official s

The scientists used a new method of viewing space called microlensing. The method uses a nearer object to bend the light of a distant star when the two align with an observer. The effect of large, massive objects between an observer and a distant planet or star can cause distortion or multiple images as the intermediary object's gravity bends the passing light.  Microlensing, by contrast, occurs when a less massive object lies in the middle. The technology allows astronomers to see planets of Jupiter's

The Healthy Ageing report explains how to protect the eyes, brain, bones and heart and stave off diseases including diabetes and cancer in later life by eating the right diet. The experts who compiled it, from universities including Oxford, Surrey and Newcastle, over a period of three years, believe that if everyone were to follow the advice - which also recommends stopping smoking and taking more exercise - Britain's ageing population will be markedly more free of illness in later life. Britons now live an average of a decade longer than they did in 1959 to around 80 years old now. The expe

It is understood around 60 of the cuts will be in the UK. Microsoft blamed the “deterioration of global economic conditions” for cuts, which left shares in Microsoft down by 6.4pc in early trading in New York. “Economic activity and IT spend slowed beyond our expectations in the quarter, and we acted quickly to reduce our cost structure and mitigate its impact,” said chief financial officer Chris Liddell, adding that the company expects the difficult trading environment to persist until at least the end of June.
